Blockchain Engineer

• Hack on execution client internals (geth, reth, etc.) to extend capacity and capabilities of these systems well beyond current standards.
• Develop representative loads against which to rigorously benchmark performance.
• Improve OP stack through efforts such as reducing the footprint of data that needs to be made L1-available.
• Helping with important external scaling efforts such as PeerDAS and Danksharding.

Protocol Engineer

General Counsel

• As Base specific product legal counsel, you will help build the legal foundation to support Base’s onchain mission and strategy.
• Play a pivotal role in the grants ecosystem by overseeing legal processes related to funding and supporting innovative projects within the Base ecosystem.
• Facilitate the integration of both Coinbase and third party services and products in the Base ecosystem, ensuring they adhere to legal standards and regulatory expectations. This includes conducting due diligence, drafting compliance policies, and providing guidance on risk management related to Base product integration.
• Be a business partner, not just an attorney.
• Provide full product life-cycle counseling.
• Look around corners and creatively solve problems for the business as they plan, build, and execute on their product roadmap.
• Identify issues that may fall outside your expertise, driving resolution by partnering with other members of the Coinbase legal team and outside counsel.
• Work cross-departmentally, including with stakeholders such as Compliance, Communications, Finance, Tax, Security, Enterprise Risk Management, Engineering, Data, Analytics, Corporate Development, and members of Coinbase’s leadership team.
• Respond promptly to a wide range of complex legal requests and coordinate closely with Legal department colleagues to ensure the swift delivery of smart, practical advice.
• Operate in a fast paced, demanding environment and pivot quickly to meet leadership's needs.
• Scale the advice you provide, so that you can do more with less and grow efficiently with the business.

Senior Counsel, Product

Machine Learning Engineer

• Design, build, and iterate AI and ML-powered ranking and relevance systems (including candidate generation, filtering, personalization, bandits, and learning-to-rank) that balance engagement, quality, and safety while meeting latency and reliability SLOs.
• Develop features and embeddings for users, content, graph, temporal, and safety signals; establish feature contracts, offline backfills, and online freshness.
• Stand up vector retrieval and RAG pipelines for semantic search, content understanding, and safety heuristics; tune retrieval quality, token/latency budgets, and evaluation.
• Build and operate online inference and batch scoring services for LLMs and ML models; optimize throughput, cost, caching, and autoscaling; introduce GPU-aware scheduling where appropriate.
• Partner with Data Platform on data movement and pipelines (batch and streaming) that power ranking models and analytics; ensure data quality, lineage, documentation, and observability.
• Partner with Data Science to frame metrics and hypotheses, design trustworthy experiments, analyze results, and productionize improvements.
• Productionize models end-to-end (training, evaluation, versioning, registries, rollouts, shadowing/canary, rollback) with strong CI/CD and infra-as-code practices.
• Establish ML observability (data/feature drift, model performance, safety thresholds, online/offline eval, dashboards and alerting) to maintain quality over time.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, platform/infra, safety, and CX to align on goals, roadmap, and risk management.
• Contribute to engineering excellence through documentation, code reviews, reliability improvements, and mentorship to junior engineers.
