About the role

  • Develop and maintain an effective preconstruction program to produce conceptual and preliminary budgets and schedules
  • Establish and maintain a list of prequalified vendors and subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain master bid documents and scopes of work
  • Participate in procurement of major project scopes of work and equipment
  • Participate in developing initial project estimates (including conceptual estimates) and schedules in consultation with the responsible Partner or Director
  • Develop a preliminary project schedule
  • Participate in developing and/or review project bid list
  • Participate in developing and/or review subcontractor scopes of work
  • Update project estimate based on review of 30/60/90 percent drawings
  • Advise project manager of procurement activities
  • Monitor actual verses budgeted cost for major procurement items
  • Conduct annual performance evaluation of direct reports
  • Provide periodic reports on workload and department accomplishments

Requirements

  • 10 years of General Contractor or Electrical Contractor related construction and preconstruction experience
  • Experience with manufacturing or industrial sector construction (Advanced Technology, Semi-Conductor, Controls Systems)
  • Experience negotiating contract buyout and putting bids together for final presentation
  • Experience in estimating and buyout for Electrical/Low Voltage installation subcontracts for Capex projects in Industrial/commercial markets
  • Existing network (regional or national) of trade contractor relationships, specifically in electrical trade
  • Experience with BMS and EPMS as well as other system integration systems
  • An understanding of prime contracts requirements including schedules, scopes, budgets, and performance expectations
  • Construction estimating, scheduling and procurement experience
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project/P6, Timberline, AutoCAD, or Revit software systems
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or a related technical degree (preferred)
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification (preferred)
  • Experience working in Data Center environments would be a plus
