About the role
- support the Engineering and Design business unit, working on multidisciplinary project teams to provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuels facilities
- integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems
- detailed design to support electrical installations in the power, mining, and hydroelectric sectors
- Technical knowledge: cost estimation, preparation of specifications, wiring and schematic diagrams, and bill-of-material development
- design and analysis, including the preparation of plans and specifications, report development, cost estimating, and the design of power and controls from the ground up
- proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects
- Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
- support the growth and development of team members
- build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams
- Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture
Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above
- Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
- experience with AutoCAD and basic Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word
- possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
- 10+ years of experience at a consulting engineering or industrial company (not required)
- Knowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, minerals processing, or chemical production (not required)
- Background and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning (not required)
- Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagrams (not required)
- Experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas (not required)
