About the role
- Design, develop, and validate laser diode and LED driver circuits for projection light sources.
- Develop power supply architecture suitable for 1- or 3-chip DLP projectors, including: AC-DC and DC-DC converters, Constant-current sources for lasers and LEDs, High-efficiency, low-noise power solutions.
- Define system-level power requirements, interfaces, and operating conditions for projection systems.
- Specify electrical, thermal, EMC, and safety requirements for off-the-shelf power supplies and drivers.
- Work closely with ‘external power supply and driver suppliers’ to: Define technical specifications, Review designs and schematics, Support prototype development, testing, and qualification.
- Perform simulation and analysis of power electronics (e.g., control loops, efficiency, thermal behavior).
- Support system integration, including bring-up, debugging, and optimization in projector prototypes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other engineers (mechanical, thermal, firmware) as well with operations teams (procurement, logistics, manufacturing).
- Support transition from development to manufacturing and production.
- Provide maintenance, support, and continuous improvement in power electronics for existing products.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field
- Proven experience in power electronics design, particularly: Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
- Experience in designing constant-current drivers for high-power LEDs or laser diodes
- Strong understanding of: DC-DC and AC-DC converter topologies
- Control methods and loop stability
- Efficiency optimization and thermal management
- Hands-on experience with schematic design, PCB layout review, and debugging
- Knowledge of relevant Power electronics simulation tools (e.g. LTspice, PLECS, PSIM)
- Experience with digital control, microcontrollers and FPGA’s
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or C# to support debugging
- Experience with laboratory measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads)
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI mitigation, safety, and regulatory requirements as well as relevant standards (IEC, UL, CE, etc.)
- Ability to define test setups and validation procedures
