Fully remote, overnight position supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to produce daily news clips and analysis reports for senior leadership and agency stakeholders.
Monitor traditional, broadcast, and social media platforms to identify relevant news coverage impacting DHS and its mission space.
Analyze and summarize media content, linking related storylines and identifying tone, themes, and key developments.
Deliver a high-quality news report each weekday, on schedule and with minimal errors.
Use a suite of research tools and media monitoring platforms (training provided) to collect, evaluate, and structure media data.
Assess trends in media narratives and provide succinct takeaways and actionable recommendations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in communications, media monitoring, journalism, or public affairs.
Familiarity with DHS missions such as immigration, national security, emergency management, or federal law enforcement.
Demonstrated experience in open-source research and identifying priority news stories from a high volume of sources.
Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information into clear, concise written products with minimal oversight.
Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to operate independently under tight deadlines and handle early morning delivery schedules.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience supporting government contracts is a plus.
