About the role
- Evaluates medical records and provides clinical and surgical abstraction
- Analyzes medical information from records and codes accordingly
- Consults with providers to clarify record information
- Provides quality assurance for medical records
- Compiles reports; tabulates data for research or analysis
- Identifies validation edits and revision issues
- Works independently under supervision using specialized knowledge
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years recent experience in Surgical or Trauma coding
- Must be currently certified through AAPC or Ahima
- Must demonstrate knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles
- Must be able to work effectively in a remote setting
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
