About the role
- Responsible for tool and service designs within a technical domain that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies.
- Creating infrastructure tools and their integration as a service.
- Facilitating deployment of technical solutions by developing templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation.
- Improving efficiency when implementing and maintaining tools/services.
- Leads and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities.
- Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies.
- Assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure compliance with enterprise system design and engineering standards.
- Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes.
- Conducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption.
- Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment.
Requirements
- 10-15+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Senior level experience Primarily with IBM AIX & RHEL on Power Operating Systems.
- Past experience with AIX Platform Engineering domain with hands on experience Testing, Packaging & Certifying AIX Stack, 3rd party software and products, certifying Security vulnerability Remediation bundles.
- Ability to Recommend, design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions.
- Shell scripting and automation skills.
- Experience with RedHat OS, VMWare, Openshift container technologies.
- Expertise supporting AIX V7, NIM, advanced AIX Virtualization, PowerHA, EMC Timefinder & Snapvx Technologies.
- Installation and configuration of VIOS and client configurations.
- Familiarity with pSeries AIX server models, HMC Consoles.
- Responsible for AIX, VIO, microcode, and firmware upgrades.
- Proficient in performing OS administration tasks on RHEL 9 running on ESX virtualized servers.
- In depth Linux knowledge required, including LVM, clustering and SAN multipathing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot network, performance, and software issues.
- Knowledge of SAN based disk solutions and their configurations.
- Ability to work independently but also must be strong in team partnership.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Work a flexible schedule, with 24-hour on call rotation expected.
