About the role

  • Develop and approve lift plans, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all lifting operations meet LOLER and BS7121 standards.
  • Brief and supervise Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel involved in lifting activities.
  • Support the Lifting Operations Manager in meeting operational KPIs.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to maintaining a robust skills matrix.

Requirements

  • Essential experience of the Lifting Operations Appointed Person
  • Strong knowledge of LOLER, BS7121 and lifting‑related regulations.
  • Experience supporting lifting operations within waterfront, industrial or maintenance environments.
  • Understanding of operating procedures within highly regulated or safety‑critical facilities.
  • Proven capability in developing safe systems of work.
  • Background in risk assessment and operational compliance.
  • Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) accredited training.
  • A recognised health and safety qualification such as CITB Health and Safety Awareness, IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Safety Health and Environment for Construction Workers, or equivalent.
  • Working at Height Awareness training.
  • Additional lifting, plant, or safety‑related qualifications - Desirable
  • Experience in defence, nuclear or heavy engineering environments - Desirable.
