About the role
- Lead, manage and coordinate all Mechanical Transport (MT) activities at our Wyton site
- Ensure a safe, compliant and high‑performing transport service to our customer
- Shape the way essential defence transport operations are delivered
- Drive innovation in working practices
- Support an operation that has real impact on safety, efficiency and environmental sustainability.
- Manage, control and coordinate all transport operations and MT staff
- Act as the named Transport Manager and CPC Holder for Babcock’s Passenger and Goods Vehicle Operator Licences
- Ensure full compliance across all transport activities, standards and procedures
- Drive innovation and improvements in working practices, operational efficiency and sustainability
- Monitor, review and optimise fleet performance to meet operational and cost requirements.
Requirements
- Good knowledge of SHEF practices and procedures
- Strong understanding of MS Office tools
- Familiarity with Tri‑Service and/or MoD practices and completion of the MOD MT Managers Course
- Proven managerial experience in a transport environment.
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Considerable experience in road transport management
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
