About the role
- Ensure all Registered Plan Administration meets SLA deadlines, such as RIF Payment Set-Ups, Updates and Runs, Non-Qualified Reporting, De-registrations, RESP/RDSP Payments, Notional updates, Monthly Reporting to CESG/CDSP, Reconciliation of RESP/RDSP error reports, Unlocking, Specialized withdrawals from Registered Plans (RIF, LIF, RSP, LRSP etc.) and providing proceeds to the client
- Set positive leadership tone through gaining respect of staff, peers and stakeholders
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development
- Coach staff to increase performance while increasing/maintaining employee engagement and career growth and support onboarding of new employees
- Review and approval of all journals posted to Registered and Non-Registered Accounts as part of an internal transfer
- Be the IIROC and MFDA Trustee point of contact and responsible for ensuring all trustee updates are applied to current procedures and manuals
- Complete Trustee reporting by generating and filing reports for IIROC and MFDA trustees
- Ensure regulatory updates that arise from CRA, IIROC, MFDA, trustees and federal budget changes are implemented
- Ensure all reporting is completed by the teams within SLAs and escalate any issues
- Actively participate in IIAC Tax Committees
- Distribute CRA/RQ/CESP/CDSP bulletins to the team as it impacts Reg Plans procedures
- Point of Contact for CESP/CDSP, RQ, CRA and all other external auditors
- Work closely with our system vendors and maintain good working relationships across Aviso
- Monitors adjustments and estates with registered plans and verifies and approves all irregular or unusual transactions
- Identifies areas of operational and systematic improvements and develops and implements recommendations
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience, in-depth knowledge of all current operational procedures governing the mutual fund industry
- In-depth and applied knowledge of RDSP/RESP products
- 3-5 years of progressively, responsible experience in the mutual fund industry, including 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role
- Completion of CSC
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to use time management and organizational skills to work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet time constraints
- Superior customer service with the ability to quickly identify and resolve problems to the satisfaction of all parties
- Highly motivated and results driven
- Intermediate computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access
- Fluency (written and spoken) in English and French is required to effectively communicate with partners, clients, and colleagues across Canada
