About the role
- Respond to inquiries about Qtrade Investor's products and services by phone or email in an efficient, compliant, courteous and professional manner
- Accept orders for transmission, ensuring commissions and currency conversion fees are calculated and perform any other relevant calculations quickly and accurately
- Before executing a client's order, obtain all necessary authorizations, be aware of any special conditions, and liaise with the appropriate department as required
- Facilitate the account documentation process by discussing requirements with the client and ensuring that the appropriate forms are completed
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the operations and conventions of relevant stock and options exchanges and be proficient in the information systems that support Qtrade Investor's services
- Stay informed about trends and news that could affect markets and clients' investment decisions
- Have a solid understanding of the fundamentals and techniques of securities support services and related services — such as trade settlement procedures, trading desk activities, corporate reorganization issues, credit and trading — and be able to assess individual situations and obtain the necessary authorizations
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all relevant compliance issues as well as applicable policies and procedures of regulatory and governmental bodies
- Identify and report administrative issues and provide recommendations to improve service quality
- Act as the primary client contact for problem and complaint resolution by conducting investigations, recording data, consulting the relevant department and performing appropriate follow-up
- Meet or exceed the department's productivity targets
Requirements
- University degree in Business or Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, an asset
- Canadian Securities Course and the Conduct and Practices Handbook course required
- Introduction to Derivatives and Options Trading courses are an asset at hire and required within six months of employment
- Three years of related work experience in the financial services industry
- Registration as an Investment Representative within the past two years, an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to defuse difficult situations quickly
- Ability to prepare accurate, clear and concise written documentation
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong knowledge of market mechanics
- Excellent communication skills in both French and English required
