Software Engineer

• Logic Deconstruction & Translation:
• Reverse-engineer legacy Stored Procedures to determine how user permissions, entitlements, and roles are calculated, translating that logic into modern, Zero Trust–aligned identity and access models.
• Data Architecture & Modeling: ** Design and maintain logical and physical data models that support identity, authorization, and access use cases, including mapping complex relational schemas to flat or attribute-based identity profiles.
• Custom ETL & Integration Development: ** Design and build custom data extraction and transformation routines using T-SQL and scripting languages (Python/PowerShell) to migrate and integrate data from Sybase into Okta and related platforms.
• Performance Optimization: ** Analyze and optimize stored procedures, queries, indexing strategies, and data pipelines to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance in high-volume and mission-critical environments.
• Data Security & Compliance: ** Implement database-level security controls, auditing, encryption, and least-privilege access patterns in alignment with Zero Trust principles and federal security requirements.
• Technical Content Creation: ** Produce high-quality technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and repeatable migration recipes to guide developers and stakeholders through the new identity data structures.
• Solution Design & Requirements Translation: ** Translate business, security, and IAM requirements into scalable SQL and data integration designs that support HUD Zero Trust objectives.
• Developer Engagement & Technical Leadership: ** Collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams; provide architectural guidance; conduct code reviews; and mentor developers to promote consistent, high-quality data solutions.
• Data Validation & Reconciliation: ** Develop reconciliation and validation scripts to ensure 100% data integrity between legacy Sybase systems and target identity platforms.

SQL Developer

• Migration & Mapping:
• Lead the technical mapping of legacy SAP ASE / Sybase data attributes to Okta user profiles and universal directories and clearly explain complex legacy schemas to migration and engineering teams.
• Data Architecture:
• Develop and implement the data architecture strategy for the legacy SAP ASE / Sybase environment, ensuring database modernization and decommissioning paths align with Federal customer’s Zero Trust goals.
• Performance & Optimization:
• Oversee monitoring, installation, troubleshooting, and tuning of SAP ASE / Sybase databases to maintain stability during high-load migration and data extraction activities.
• ETL & Pipeline Oversight:
• Collaborate with engineers to build and validate data pipelines (e.g., Azure Data Factory or equivalent) that move data from Sybase to cloud-based identity targets, including identifying and eliminating obsolete or “dead” stored procedure logic that should not be migrated.
• Security & Governance:
• Enforce robust database security controls and data quality standards, including metadata management and data lineage, to ensure sensitive identity data remains protected in alignment with Zero Trust principles and federal requirements.
• Strategic Planning:
• Formulate long-term strategies for database optimization, risk reduction, and the orderly sunsetting of legacy production environments.
• Production Support:
• Provide expert-level operational support for SAP ASE / Sybase and IQ environments, including backup and recovery, replication troubleshooting, patching, and capacity planning.
• Logic Extraction & Reverse Engineering:
• Analyze and document complex legacy stored procedures to extract embedded business rules and transformation logic for migration into the new identity framework.
• Performance Engineering:
• Perform deep-dive query optimization and indexing strategies to ensure high-volume migration-related data extraction does not impact production availability.
• Replication Oversight:
• Manage and troubleshoot Sybase Replication Server to ensure data consistency across legacy nodes, staging environments, and migration pipelines.
