About the role
- Linux on AWS: Operate and harden Debian and Ubuntu systems in high-availability environments.
- AWS Architecture and Networking: Design and evolve VPC setups, connectivity such as VPNs, routing strategies, and security boundaries.
- Kubernetes (EKS): Build and operate EKS clusters as a standardized platform layer.
- Infrastructure as Code: Design and maintain reusable Terraform modules and Ansible roles across environments.
- CI/CD Enablement: Work closely with development teams to improve GitLab pipelines and deployment patterns, helping remove friction from delivery workflows.
- Operational Excellence: Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and observability standards.
- FinOps: Increase cost transparency and actively optimize cloud spend without compromising reliability or performance.
Requirements
- Strong AWS and Linux Experience: You have hands-on experience operating and improving AWS environments in production and are confident working with Debian or Ubuntu systems.
- Infrastructure as Code Expertise: Proven experience with Terraform and Ansible in real-world, structured environments.
- Kubernetes in Production: You have built, upgraded, and troubleshot Kubernetes clusters, ideally on EKS, and understand the trade-offs involved in platform-level decisions.
- Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of VPC architecture, VPNs, DNS, routing, and cloud security concepts such as security groups and network ACLs.
- Automation and Scripting: Strong Bash and or Python skills to automate and simplify operational tasks.
- Operational Mindset: Experience with monitoring and observability tooling and a structured approach to reliability and incident management.
- Nice to Have: Experience with RDS operations for MySQL or PostgreSQL, familiarity with Go, or exposure to common open-source tools such as GitLab, Elasticsearch, or RabbitMQ.
- Language: Fluent in English. German is a plus.
