About the role
- Own the technical modernization roadmap for backend developer productivity
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable cross-cutting systems
- Build, operate and iterate on developer platforms and tooling
- Diagnose and fix large, hard problems affecting developer velocity
- Drive engineering excellence through design and code reviews
- Lead cross-team modernization initiatives
- Mentor and influence engineers and technical leads
- Adopt modern, AI-assisted development practices
- Proactively surface and mitigate technical risks
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 17+)
- Deep hands-on experience with Gradle (multi-module builds)
- Proven experience owning health, reliability and performance of CI systems
- Strong systems thinking experience with capacity planning and productionizing developer tooling
- Experience integrating AI into developer workflows
- Strong understanding of privacy, security, and governance for ML systems
- Experience designing observability for platform services and productivity metrics
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentorship skills
- Experience with Agile Software Development, Scrum, SAFe
