About the role

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements by gathering data and performing basic analysis.
  • Assist with month end closing activities and maintain accurate entries in the General Ledger.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist in preparing year end audit support materials and help respond to audit requests.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
  • Support the preparation of monthly forecasts by compiling data and running basic reports.
  • Prepare weekly cash forecasting inputs and assist in reviewing variances.
  • Contribute to the development of annual operating plans and budgets by providing data and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and financial controls.
  • Support internal control reviews by providing documentation and information as needed.
  • Assist with approval workflow processes (e.g., forms, documentation gathering).
  • Assist in administering the capital expenditure approval process.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset ledgers with appropriate support.
  • Provide financial information and basic analysis in response to inquiries from department leaders.
  • Support operational teams by preparing reports related to cost control and forecasting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing monthly HST returns and gathering data required for Statistics Canada reporting.
  • Support compliance with local and federal tax regulations by maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Working toward a professional designation (CPA, CFA) considered an asset.
  • 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles (co op/internship experience is beneficial).
  • Basic understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards) is an asset.
