About the role
- You are a key technical team member and contributor responsible for developing engineered solutions for the nuclear industry.
- This role combines engineering analysis, structured design, commercial acumen, leadership, and cross-functional coordination to deliver compelling, innovative proposals that win complex, capital automation projects.
- You will professionally liaise with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Customers, and other internal & external partners as-needed to define solutions, build cost structures, manage risk, and ensure proposals are delivered on time and on budget while maximizing capture rate and competitive advantage.
- Lead end-to-end proposal development using well-founded engineering methods from opportunity qualification through and beyond approval, with support as-needed as part of the execution of the project.
- Analyse and interpret customer technical, operational, and business requirements to define accurate engineering scope and solutions.
- Define system architectures, machine breakdown structures and Bills of Materials (BOMs), capture cost estimates, and perform risk assessments aligned with engineering standards, as well as other tasks as needed.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage technical, commercial, and schedule risks throughout the proposal lifecycle.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and external partners.
- Develop comprehensive proposal budgets, including labour, materials, purchased equipment, and third-party supplier costs.
- Engage directly with customers through calls, site visits, technical reviews, and proposal presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent experience in advanced automation environments will be considered.
- Seasoned professional with a demonstrated ability in developing proposals for complex automation or capital equipment projects, preferably within automation, manufacturing, and/or Nuclear industries.
- Strong understanding of automation systems, robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent) and 2D CAD tools preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is mandatory.
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive-level presentation skills.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, innovative, results-driven, and willing to work in both individual and group environments.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, lead without authority, and drive decisions in fast-paced environments.
