About the role
- Manage staff coordination and workload and directly supervise and mentor the project controls team as a subject matter expert
- Manage, revise, and maintain status of the detailed project cost estimate/forecast to include all phases of project execution from design/engineering, material/equipment procurement and deliveries, construction contracts through start-up activities and closeout
- Track and analyze the project costs including budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, and forecasts using Earned Value methodology
- Participate in the development and improvement of project controls systems
- Recommend improvements in systems, tools, and methods of project controls and project management
- Establish a project work breakdown structure in line with industry best practices
- Assist in analyzing project control requirements as part of the bid review process
- Interact with other project groups in relation to cost codes, purchase order commitments, change orders
- Assist in creating detailed project budgets from estimates and in the development of cash flow projections
- Manage key project indicators and project commercial reports
- Produce forecasts of total project costs, annual costs, and monthly cash flow costs and provides variance analysis and explanations
- Manage risk management process including driving the identification, evaluation, mitigation and management process of the risk management
- Assist in coordinating engineering and construction activities in conjunction with overall project schedule requirements
- Provide senior level general project management support as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Preference for PMP – Project Management Professional (PMI) or CCP - Certified Cost Professional (AACE) or EVP – Earned Value Professional (AACE)
- Experience in developing budgets, cash flows, financial analysis and/or schedules
- Highly articulate with clear and analytical approach to problem solving
- Strong decision making abilities
- Thorough understanding and utilization of Information Technology including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
- Strong cost management, scheduling, and project planning and estimating skills
- Ability to interface with external engineering, architectural and construction firms, suppliers, and management team
- Ability to use A/E and CM cost and/or schedule information to evaluate project status
- Thorough understanding of different types of contracts (Lump Sum, T&M etc.) and their implications on Project Management and overall project risks
- Working knowledge of industry standard software and ERP, Planning & Scheduling, and cost management applications
- Experience with Primavera and Microsoft Project is preferred
- Ability to manage large dataset, prepare trend curves and performance dashboards and perform statistical and financial analysis in MS Excel or equivalent solution
