About the role
- Own and direct a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects
- Successfully manage time and budgets of the Electrical & ICA team to key project milestones and programmes
- Responsible for directing and reviewing technical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, Load Schedules, MCC specifications, Control Philosophies, Control Network Architecture
- Provide technical leadership into project design deliverables for Electrical aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects
- Work with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes
- Collaborate with clients, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams
- Provide direction and guidance to Senior and Principal colleagues
- Lead the growth of local Electrical & ICA team and the wider Electrical & ICA technical network
- Work independently with minimal technical guidance
- Exercise personal judgement to solve difficult problems where appropriate and provide guidance to Senior and Principal team members
- Provide technical support and direction for bid proposals
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions
- Set quality assurance standards in design and ensure compliance from Electrical & ICA teams
- Lead business development initiatives to drive growth of water market for AtkinsRéalis
- Support leadership and management of the D&AT team within the Manchester office
Requirements
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered Engineer
- Proven experience in leading or directing an Electrical & ICA engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy
- Takes broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems
- Requires comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in Electrical designs
- Extensive knowledge of water company design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, such as WIMES
- Strong awareness of HAZOP assessments, lightning strike risk assessments, earthing and bonding, lighting designs, DSEAR and ATEX installation practices
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance
- Experience in water market is preferred but not required
- Experience in industrial and process environment is essential
- Demonstrates strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi-disciplinary teams
- A proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and shared success across projects
