About the role

  • Own and direct a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Successfully manage time and budgets of the Electrical & ICA team to key project milestones and programmes
  • Responsible for directing and reviewing technical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, Load Schedules, MCC specifications, Control Philosophies, Control Network Architecture
  • Provide technical leadership into project design deliverables for Electrical aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Work with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes
  • Collaborate with clients, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams
  • Provide direction and guidance to Senior and Principal colleagues
  • Lead the growth of local Electrical & ICA team and the wider Electrical & ICA technical network
  • Work independently with minimal technical guidance
  • Exercise personal judgement to solve difficult problems where appropriate and provide guidance to Senior and Principal team members
  • Provide technical support and direction for bid proposals
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions
  • Set quality assurance standards in design and ensure compliance from Electrical & ICA teams
  • Lead business development initiatives to drive growth of water market for AtkinsRéalis
  • Support leadership and management of the D&AT team within the Manchester office

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Proven experience in leading or directing an Electrical & ICA engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy
  • Takes broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in Electrical designs
  • Extensive knowledge of water company design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, such as WIMES
  • Strong awareness of HAZOP assessments, lightning strike risk assessments, earthing and bonding, lighting designs, DSEAR and ATEX installation practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance
  • Experience in water market is preferred but not required
  • Experience in industrial and process environment is essential
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi-disciplinary teams
  • A proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and shared success across projects
