About the role
- Leading projects to deliver piping solutions for the construction of new nuclear stations
- Support the operation of the existing nuclear generating fleet
- Decommission nuclear sites
- Delivery of technical solutions to complex problems
- Production of clear and concise technical reports, calculations and drawings
- Review and verification of technical documentation produced by others
- Regular communication with clients and stakeholders
- Production of bids and proposals
- Develop capability through mentoring and coaching, development of tools/templates, input into technical community
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Senior technical practitioner able to demonstrate good engineering judgement
- Substantial experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis
- Experience working in a safety critical and heavily regulated environment such as nuclear power generation/decommissioning industries
- Chartered with a relevant professional institute (or approaching application for registration) is desirable
- Experience with design codes such as ASME BPVC Section III, RCC-M, BS EN 13480, BS EN 13445 is desirable
- Awareness of UK legislation relating to piping is desirable
- Experience delivering projects for UK nuclear licensees is desirable
- Understanding of commercial and client management principles is desirable
