About the role

  • Management and QA of archaeological fieldwork and subcontractors
  • Support and deliver Archaeological Clerk of Works on major infrastructure projects
  • Define and develop scope, programme, and design of heritage works
  • Deliver archaeological mitigation and research strategies and public outreach
  • Provide technical advice to clients and internal teams
  • Prepare EIA screening, environmental statements, heritage statements, desk-based assessments, and consent applications
  • Assess heritage constraints to influence design development
  • Deliver medium-to-large projects on time and budget
  • Consultation and liaison with heritage stakeholders and client project teams
  • Production of fee proposals and technical input on tenders

Requirements

  • Strong background in UK historic environment and archaeological fieldwork
  • Relevant Masters level or higher in archaeology or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of planning process (including EIA) and environmental/heritage legislation
  • Knowledge of consenting process for listed buildings and scheduled monuments
  • Willingness to work across the UK and opportunity to work internationally
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Health and Safety awareness and experience on archaeological projects
  • Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) at Associate level or above
  • Experience in commercial consultancy environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Technical or specialist subject expertise (periods, themes, environmental or post-excavation specialisms and outreach)
