Work across projects of different types and sectors.
Produce Class 5 (order of magnitude) to Class 1 (bottom-up, first principles) estimates.
Take a leading role in supporting the leadership team in win work activities (bids, proposals, etc.) to grow our portfolio.
Provide team input to continuously improve the quality of our deliverables to clients.
Take a leading role in the development of a high performing team, supporting your regional leadership team.
Demonstrate and utilise an advanced understanding of the typical methods of measurement.
Oversee the estimating team’s completion of full take-offs independently, completing these activities where necessary.
Own delivery of high-quality client outputs, ranging from estimating direct and indirect costs, to assuring estimates by other organisations and those completed by estimators within your duty of care.
Lead on peer review of outputs from other team members to deliver continuous improvement.
Review all outputs of the estimating team and provide guidance to them on projects.
Independently author basis-of-estimate reports for Director reviews and client submissions.
Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of estimating specific software and generic office applications.
Take the lead on use of client benchmarking data, in-house data and market data to independently form and assess estimates.
Lead internal review and quality assurance processes for client deliverables, following internal governance procedures.
Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, being able to manage and communicate complex issues in a straightforward format to achieve positive resolutions.
Be a subject matter expert within our wider team to incorporate the best knowledge and information possible into client deliverables.
Lead the connection with the wider team and leadership in our Estimating & Cost Advisory practice.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction sectors or Equivalent Work Experience.
Chartership with or demonstrably working towards RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE or similar.
A strong understanding of typical approaches to applying contingency and risk allowances.
Wider understanding of commercial and contractual requirements and the crossover to the impact on estimating or forecasting costs.
Deep knowledge of indirect costs, cost breakdown structures and techniques to analyse and assess project deliverability.
Stakeholder engagement skills including being able to work seamlessly with designers, engineers, project managers and clients.
A clear understanding of the role of consultancy organisations on projects, including the ability to be adaptable to work across multiple sectors and disciplines and have the drive to want to learn new skills.
In possession of, or with the capability to obtain a level of security clearance (ideal but not always necessary for the right candidate).
