You are responsible for financial oversight for ATCO Electric’s Yukon based subsidiary, ATCO Electric Yukon (AEY).
Reporting directly to the Manager, North of 60.
Exercise supervisory skills, responsible for accurate reporting, business planning and forecasting.
Support the regulatory team with reporting and filings.
Provide financial leadership for AEY, managing day-to-day accounting operations and establishing effective internal controls.
Leading Financial Services team meetings to promote alignment and collaboration.
Supervising accounting staff and supporting their growth and development.
Reviewing account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
Preparing, reviewing, and approving journal entries.
Reviewing fixed asset processes, including retirements and capitalizations.
Supporting training and succession planning within the Financial Services team.
Conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
Acting as the primary contact for internal and external audit activities.
Overseeing AEY’s financial reporting function, ensuring timely preparation of financial and accounting information to support decision-making across the organization.
Monthly management reporting including operational costs and capital expenditure reporting.
Monthly and quarterly reporting for executive leadership.
Annual Audited Financial Statements.
Annual Utility Financial Results for the Yukon Utilities Board and customer representatives.
Leading AEY’s planning and forecasting activities, ensuring business plans and forecasts are completed accurately and on time.
Managing the Utility Financial Model and GRA coordination, including producing and maintaining AEY’s Utility Financial Model, and coordinating GRA schedules.
Requirements
A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field with a major in accounting is preferred.
A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, or CGA) is required, along with 5–7 years of progressive, relevant experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to inspire, guide, and develop high-performing teams.
A strategic mindset with the ability to see the big picture, anticipate challenges, and make sound, forward-thinking decisions.
Familiarity with the electric utility industry and its regulatory environment is a strong asset.
Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a commitment to maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
