About the role

  • Reporting to the country manager you will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, securing & launching key target clients.
  • Secure client contracts, building a wide, deep network of clients, delivering against annual operating plan & identifying & delivering sustainable growth opportunities.
  • Drive & deliver year over year operating revenue growth and will be focused on Assurant’s digital first approach.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Assurant’s Business Development AOP by winning new strategic partnerships.
  • Lead and manage the whole sales cycle – this will be lead generation, proposal development, proposal presentation, negotiation, contracting & supporting with implementation.
  • Use Salesforce as the system of choice to record & manage all prospect activity, whether interactions or proposal development requests.
  • Lead the alignment with internal stakeholders on all new opportunities, working closely with functions such Underwriting, Product, IT, Operations & Compliance, plus others.
  • Support the Account Management Team to ensure successful handover & delivery on agreed client objectives.
  • Create & execute win & contact strategies for allocated prospects.
  • Work in collaboration with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, to create & execute on data-led campaigns for specific, targeted prospects.
  • Ensure prospective clients & the market have a good understanding of Assurant’s products & capabilities – including our investment areas.
  • Be an advocate for Assurant in the external market & network effectively - be present at business events.
  • Work closely with Product Innovation Teams to analyse, scan & feedback changes/ insights across the wider market.
  • Be proactive in communicating ideas where Assurant can change & develop based on experience & knowledge of market trends/shifts.

Requirements

  • Experience of business development within the insurance, financial services or telecommunication industries
  • Sound understanding of the German market, specifically the trends that are likely to impact the landscape over the coming years
  • Strong track record of initiating, winning, and delivering cross-sell or new business opportunities
  • Experience working directly with & managing senior stakeholders/C-suite executives & fostering multi-level relationships across complex corporate accounts
  • A well-connected & networked individual; Proven track of successfully having used & gained market knowledge & customer insights to feed into commercial strategy and marketing plans
  • A commercially aware, skilled influencer & negotiator who can design partnerships based on a “win-win” approach with understanding of key P&L drivers
  • Detailed knowledge of insurance sales processes & regulations with the ability to translate knowledge & experience into recommendations which add tangible value to the business.
  • A strong understanding of the general insurance/financial services &/or warranty business
