About the role
- Reports to the Director of Communications and supports digital platforms, social media, outreach, and advocacy campaigns
- Ensure timely updates, cross-promotion, and follow-through across communications channels
- Support advocacy and rapid-response communications, including updating the Arts Alliance website and sending action alerts via email and social media
- Use Quorum advocacy software to support advocacy work
- Lead social media strategy for the organization, monitor trends, and alert teammates to relevant content
- Oversee emergent advocacy campaigns from start to finish, ensuring communication loops are closed through follow-up emails, post-event surveys, and other touchpoints
- Project manage 1:1 outreach efforts for campaigns and Arts Alliance programs, including gathering data and reporting on results
- Lead the development and distribution of the monthly newsletter
- Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations’ communications teams and manage cross-organizational promotion and outreach
- Make basic website updates and ensure webpages are current and tidy
- Assist in administrative tasks including managing shared organizational email inboxes and replying to social media inquiries
- Attend occasional in-office meetings in Chicago, annual staff retreats, and Arts Alliance events as required
Requirements
- Must be a resident of Illinois during term of employment
- Ability to attend occasional meetings at the Chicago office, annual staff retreats, and Arts Alliance events
- Strong writing skills for newsletters, social media, email campaigns, and the web
- Experience leading social media for an organization, including developing content calendars, monitoring trends, and engaging audiences
- Ability to manage projects from start to finish, including campaign planning, outreach tracking, and thorough follow-up
- Commitment to cultural competence when working with diverse communities across Illinois
- Experience with advocacy and rapid-response communications (updating websites, sending action alerts via email and social media)
- Experience using Quorum advocacy software
- Experience managing and distributing newsletters
- Basic website update skills and familiarity with CMS
- Project management skills for 1:1 outreach efforts, data gathering, and reporting
- Experience building relationships with partner organizations and managing cross-organizational promotion
- Ability to manage shared organizational email inboxes and respond to social media inquiries
