Salary

💰 $130,000 - $190,000 per year

About the role

  • Coach, mentor, and guide engineers in technical skills, career growth, and communication, ensuring a continuous focus on building and scaling high-performing individuals.
  • Uphold a high technical bar through rigorous code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making. Foster strong security and compliance practices, and stay hands-on with the code when needed to support delivery and set the standard.
  • Conduct interviews and build stable, high-performing teams, specifically focusing on providing stability for a team that has seen recent management rotations.
  • Review existing processes and proactively offer improvements rather than just following established workflows.
  • Own outcomes end-to-end. Ensure tradeoffs are explicit, commitments are met, and misses are identified early through proactive escalation.
  • Partner in a Triad structure with Product and Design. Navigate the team through a fast-paced environment with constant change and shifting priorities, including AI-assisted development.
  • Ensure that leadership is never surprised by team status and that a deep level of trust is built with the engineers.
  • Maintain a "must-have" mindset for hands-on work; while not coding daily, you are ready to step into the code to unblock the team or expedite delivery.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering; Strong preference for React, Typescript, Node.js and Postgres SQL
  • 1+ year managing, coaching and developing agile software engineering teams in a SaaS environment.
  • A champion for modern AI tooling and process improvements, with a proven ability to evangelize and drive AI-assisted development practices across engineering teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, necessary for cross-functional work among teams.
  • Proven ability to remain effective and lead teams through evolving project scopes and organizational changes.
  • Ability to work from one of our hiring hubs with minimal travel requirements, approximately 1 to 2 times per year.
