About the role

  • Advise on the full spectrum of employment law issues, with specific focus on employment agreements, compensation agreements, performance management, employee relations, reductions in force, and contingent labor.
  • Act as the primary legal contact for employment matters in Mainland China by providing in-depth expert legal advice.
  • Develop, implement, and update regional employment policies, practices, and employee handbooks.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks related to employment matters.
  • Lead and conduct sensitive investigations into employee legal complaints of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
  • Advise and support global and regional strategic initiatives.
  • Partner closely with HR and other cross-functional teams to deliver effective and compliant solutions.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on employment law topics.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience practicing employment law, with significant experience in the APAC region.
  • Active license to practice law in China.
  • Business-level fluency in Mandarin (verbal and written) and English.
  • Proficiency in Taiwanese Hokkien or Malaysian languages and dialects is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Deep understanding of the diverse and complex employment law landscapes across the APAC region.
