About the role
- Lead and/or assist the civil engineering design for municipal and MTO infrastructure projects
- Prepare detailed designs, reports, and drawings for roadways, site grading, driveway access, and civil works
- Conduct technical reviews for municipal development applications
- Lead and/or assist to coordinate proposals, project planning, and execution
- Manage and/or assist in project budgets, schedules, and client communications
- Support permitting and approvals processes with regulatory agencies
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across design, environmental, and construction disciplines
- Coordinate with municipal, provincial, and utility stakeholders
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., TAC, OTM, MTO Design Standards)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario (or eligible for licensing)
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure design, preferably on municipal and MTO projects
- Proven experience with roadway/highway design and site civil engineering
- Proficient in software tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads
- Strong understanding of applicable design codes, standards, and construction principles
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
- Experience with cost estimating, design calculations, and technical reporting.
