About the role
- Assist our growing traffic engineering group in Tennessee in the preparation of engineering reports, studies and analyses in a wide-range of areas including traffic operations, safety, travel demand modeling and transportation planning projects.
- Work efficiently and effectively to complete tasks within the required project schedule and budget.
- Lead tasks and projects on your own and mentor younger staff.
- Conducts traffic operational analysis using microscopic simulation software such as VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic.
- Responsibilities also include analysis of traffic signal operation on arterials and networks, specification of applicable data collection, development of new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis, inputting traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers, and design and analysis of traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness.
- Preparing traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and markings designs, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.
- Additional responsibilities will include operational analysis using microscopic simulation for intersections, corridors, and interchange traffic.
- Assisting in the developing ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies, procedures and manuals.
- Assisting in the Implementation of ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies.
Requirements
- 7 or more years of transportation or traffic engineering experience post-graduation
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
- U.S. Driver’s License
- Tennessee PE
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred)
- PTOE (preferred)
- TDOT or local TN project experience (preferred)
- Experience using Microstation, ArcGIS and Synchro/Sim Traffic (preferred)
- Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards (Nashville DOT and Tennessee DOT) (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (preferred)
- Transportation Design Experience with MicroStation (preferred)
