About the role

  • Serve as the functional owner for end-to-end processes across Core HCM, Talent and Performance, Absence, and Compensation.
  • Accountable for the strategic design, governance, compliance, and continuous optimization of capabilities within Workday.
  • Partner closely with the Product Owner, People Systems Manager, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Provide thought leadership and expert guidance on Workday functionality, configuration decisions, and industry best practices.
  • Lead Workday release management activities, including impact assessments and regression testing.
  • Ensure high standards of system documentation, data integrity, and audit readiness across supported modules.
  • Contribute to the internal knowledge base by sharing insights and identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Provide escalated operational support, leading complex troubleshooting and resolving system issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Workday functional roles, with hands-on configuration and support in one or more of the following areas: Absence, Compensation, Talent Management, and Security.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday Absence & Time Off
  • Experience in retail, hospitality, or other multi-jurisdiction, frontline-heavy industries.
  • Proven experience translating business requirements into functional specifications and partnering with HRIS and Technology teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead testing efforts for Workday releases, enhancements, and integrations including test planning, execution, and validation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Proactive, systems-thinking approach to policy and process.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with HR, Payroll, IT, and external partners.
  • Appreciation for operational nuance and regional variation.
  • Comfort working across ambiguity and collaborating cross-functionally in fast-paced, scaling environments.
