About the role
- Assist with equipment inspections, system testing, and verification of functional performance
- Support the development and execution of commissioning plans, checklists, and test scripts
- Help identify system deficiencies and work with senior engineers to troubleshoot solutions
- Contribute to system start-up and integration activities across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Maintain accurate logs, test results, deficiency lists, and field notes
- Assist in preparing commissioning reports and turnover documentation
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and project managers to support commissioning activities and timelines
- Attend site meetings and provide updates on test results and any issues found
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related engineering field (or equivalent technical training)
- Strong interest in building systems, equipment start-up, and hands-on field engineering
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts through coursework or internships
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn
- Internship or co-op experience in construction, engineering, commissioning, building systems, or manufacturing
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, electrical distribution, controls, or instrumentation
- Ability and willingness to travel regionally on a weekly basis (company reimbursed)
