About the role

  • Take ownership of specific tasks within projects, delivering high-quality outputs, particularly in the preparation and analysis of GHG inventories.
  • Lead projects focused on emissions accounting applying specialized knowledge to meet the client requirements and supervise the deliverables of the junior members
  • Participate in other projects related to corporate carbon management, including but not limited to development of Net Zero plans and emission reduction targets by reviewing GHG emissions data and calculating targets.
  • Support projects related to climate risks and ESG reporting and disclosure.
  • Collaborate and support in other technical or administrative tasks
  • Efficiently lead and deliver projects related to GHG accounting in accordance with the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 and/or other GHG reporting standards
  • Handle comprehensive data processing tasks and calculate scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, including accounting for value chain emissions using different approaches, Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all GHG calculations and reports, maintaining a high standard of quality in GHG accounting and reporting.
  • Develop reports according to existing standards and programs (GHG protocol, ISO 14064, TCR, CDP, SBTi, Decarbonization)
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and/or junior consultants, ensuring they develop the necessary expertise to contribute effectively to the team.
  • Continuously enhance personal expertise in GHG accounting and other climate-related topics to support ongoing professional development and team knowledge growth.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within GHG accounting and reporting, contributing to the enhancement of operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the team to refine and optimize data processing techniques, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in GHG accounting.
  • Effectively communicate complex GHG accounting concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding across all levels of the organization.
  • Support client engagements by providing clear, accurate, and actionable insights related to GHG emissions

Requirements

  • A relevant environmental science, sustainability, engineering, economics or data analytics degree
  • Postgraduate studies in energy, climate change and/or sustainability are desirable but not essential.
  • Candidates with legal, accounting, finance and economics backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience with GHG emissions accounting in a corporate or consulting setting; relevant professional experience (climate data, project management, team management well regarded.
  • Solid experience in performing detailed calculations to determine material flows, ecological footprints and other environmental, economic, and social metrics, as may be required
  • Previous experience and demonstrated GHG accounting skills under current and emerging reporting frameworks such as the GHG Protocol series, ISO 14064, and IPCC Guidelines; Working knowledge of national GHG reporting frameworks (e.g. US EPA GHG Inventory guidance, UK Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting; Australia National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme & Climate Active, The Climate Registry), is highly regarded.
  • Experience in other topics in the environmental sustainability sphere, such as life cycle assessments, climate risk, sustainability disclosure (e.g. GHG, CDP, DJSI, GRI, TCFD-)
  • Experience with PowerBI and other data analytics tools is an advantage
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, including advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders to team relationships.
  • Experience supporting supplier audits, environmental programs, and supplier capacity development.
