About the role

  • Support engineering design projects with a focus on the coastal environment
  • Assist in developing data collection plans for surveying, geotechnical exploration, and environmental data
  • Conduct analysis and numerical modeling of coastal processes such as currents, waves, storm surge, sediment transport, morphology, and wave-current-structure interaction.
  • Perform engineering analysis, preliminary, and detail design of coastal and marine facilities
  • Assist in developing plans, specifications, and construction documents on projects
  • Perform costs estimating on projects during the design phase
  • Work with sub-consultants and team members and assure quality control of work throughout project execution
  • Periodic construction oversight for regional projects
  • Support report and technical memorandum development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil and/or Ocean Engineering or related field
  • Engineering design experience in ports, harbors, marinas, boat launch facilities, and/or coastal engineering or construction industry
  • Coastal engineering design such as beach nourishment, marsh creation, living shorelines, breakwaters, bulkheads, dredging, and dredge material management
  • Harbor structure design such as jetties, offloading structures, berthing and mooring structures
  • Coastal resource agency coordination
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with industry standard analysis and design software
  • Ability to be PE licensed in Oregon within 4 years of hire.
  • Flexibility to travel regionally
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • ArcGIS experience a plus
  • Python experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
