About the role
- Support engineering design projects with a focus on the coastal environment
- Assist in developing data collection plans for surveying, geotechnical exploration, and environmental data
- Conduct analysis and numerical modeling of coastal processes such as currents, waves, storm surge, sediment transport, morphology, and wave-current-structure interaction.
- Perform engineering analysis, preliminary, and detail design of coastal and marine facilities
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, and construction documents on projects
- Perform costs estimating on projects during the design phase
- Work with sub-consultants and team members and assure quality control of work throughout project execution
- Periodic construction oversight for regional projects
- Support report and technical memorandum development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil and/or Ocean Engineering or related field
- Engineering design experience in ports, harbors, marinas, boat launch facilities, and/or coastal engineering or construction industry
- Coastal engineering design such as beach nourishment, marsh creation, living shorelines, breakwaters, bulkheads, dredging, and dredge material management
- Harbor structure design such as jetties, offloading structures, berthing and mooring structures
- Coastal resource agency coordination
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
- Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with industry standard analysis and design software
- Ability to be PE licensed in Oregon within 4 years of hire.
- Flexibility to travel regionally
- Proficiency in MS Office
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
- ArcGIS experience a plus
- Python experience a plus
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
