About the role
- Develop effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief
- Undertake a wide range of scour-related work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance
- Implement effective, value for money and innovative solutions to meet technical and project requirements
- Progress projects through preliminary and detailed design with emphasis on client requirements and innovation
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
- Supervise, mentor and develop team members from senior engineers, through to graduate engineers and technicians
- Assist with contract preparation together with project planning and programming
- Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets, inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees
- Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts
- Effective management and response of project-related correspondence
- Checks to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System and assist in the development
- Prepare and check feasibility studies, appraisal/assessment reports and other written documents
- Development of engineering solutions and presenting engineering options
- Complete performance appraisals with direct reports and provide learning and development opportunities where possible.
Requirements
- Can demonstrate high-level experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, probably gained in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent.
- Can demonstrate an ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Have extensive experience in Scour Risk Management.
- Have experience in managing project-related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
- Are experienced in the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment.
- Have a Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject.
- Have Chartered status held with an appropriate professional body.
- Know technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment.
- Are an accredited training manager with a relevant professional institution, e.g. Supervising Civil Engineer for the Institution of Civil Engineers.
- Are capable of acting as lead or engineering day-to-day main contact for a project where required under the terms of the commission.
