About the role
- Lead or support aspects of EVCP design across various stages of delivery, including: Site surveys and inspections to assess suitability and constraints.
- Feasibility studies and technical reporting to inform design decisions.
- Planning, programming, and cost estimation for EVCP infrastructure projects.
- Design production in line with UK electrical regulations and EV-specific standards.
- Creation and management of design schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Review and quality assurance of design drawings and technical documentation.
- Mentoring and support for Graduate Engineers and Technicians within the EV design team.
- Ensure timely delivery of EV charge point designs, meeting programme milestones and exceeding client expectations.
- Promote innovation and best practice in EV infrastructure design, adopting modern technologies and approaches where appropriate.
- Champion health and safety throughout all stages of design and delivery, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and other relevant regulations.
Requirements
- Practical understanding of BS7671: IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) and/or the City & Guilds 2921-34 qualification for EV charging installations.
- Experience working with Local Authority and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) requirements, including grid connection protocols and site feasibility.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM 2015 (Construction Design and Management Regulations).
- Progress towards professional accreditation with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IET, ICE, or similar).
- Demonstrable experience in electrical engineering, ideally gained through a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent.
- Ability to produce technically robust EVCP design solutions that meet client specifications and comply with relevant standards, under appropriate supervision.
- Familiarity with procedures and best practices relating to health, safety, and welfare in engineering environments.
- Understanding of technical governance and quality assurance processes within a consulting engineering context.
