About the role

  • Working on the South West Scheme Delivery Framework for National Highways
  • Designing a strengthening scheme, completing maintenance refurbishments, or executing safety improvements
  • Providing effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highway structures schemes
  • Taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers
  • Producing technically sound engineering solutions
  • Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and general work-winning functions
  • Supporting effective health and safety practices within the team

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Degree Apprenticeship programme or an employer led early careers development programme
  • Knowledge of structures design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline
  • Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • Experienced in following procedures associated with the management of health, safety and welfare
  • Has knowledge and understanding of technical and specification processes
  • Good competence with relevant software and similar analytical tools
  • Has a basic understanding of CDM and risk assessment
  • Experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject
