About the role

  • Provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader
  • Taking ownership and leading projects from start to finish
  • Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff
  • Contributing to the professional development of junior staff
  • Liaising with Client and supplier representatives
  • Managing a small, locally based, single-discipline technical team
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work-winning function
  • Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team

Requirements

  • Developed experience and expertise within the Structures field
  • Ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions
  • Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design)
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Good understanding of CDM and risk assessment
  • Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects
  • Good understanding of interface management
  • Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE or an equivalent professional licence
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
