About the role
- Support the Chief Legal and Risk Officer in leading legal and risk management functions and oversee a broad portfolio of projects.
- Facilitate development and implementation of policies, manage cross-functional initiatives, and prepare reports, presentations, and legal documentation.
- Create and manage project timelines, track progress, and ensure accountability for deliverables.
- Develop strategic plans, goals, objectives, metrics and KPIs to monitor legal and risk-related activities and provide updates.
- Facilitate development and review of legal policies, compliance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Organize and support meetings including agenda setting, note-taking, and follow-up actions.
- Streamline internal and external communications related to legal and risk initiatives.
- Support coordination of external reviews, audits, and legal assessments.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support legal and risk management functions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in legal affairs, risk management, or a related field within a nonprofit, corporate, or similar environment.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, or related discipline; advanced legal or risk management certifications preferred.
- Strong understanding of legal frameworks, compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office 365, MS Teams, and legal or compliance management systems.
- Action-oriented with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Ability to influence and build consensus across diverse organizational stakeholders.
