About the role
- Lead the planning and design of site development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and roadway access
- Prepare and review civil engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents
- Ensure designs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards
- Provide quality control and technical oversight for work produced by junior engineers and designers
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation
- Develop project work plans, manpower estimates, and participate in proposal efforts
- Coordinate with clients, Architects, Surveyors, Structural Engineers, Contractors, and other consultants throughout project development
- Support construction administration services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits
- Lead permitting efforts and coordinate with local agencies, utilities, and regulatory bodies
- Prepare and submit land development, zoning, and permitting applications
- Address regulatory comments and support entitlement processes
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, EITs, and CAD designers
- Foster collaboration within project teams and across disciplines
- Contribute to process improvements, standards development, and technical best practices
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide technical support during business development efforts
- Assist with identifying new project opportunities and expanding existing client relationships
- Represent the firm during client meetings and stakeholder engagements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on site development
- Must be able to show proof of US citizenship (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
- Strong working knowledge of site development design practices, permitting, and construction processes
- Experience with stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
- Proficiency with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
