About the role
- Management of Amber’s employee success function including line management of team members.
- Review and develop the employee success strategy according to the company’s long-term vision and policies.
- Take oversight of the company culture working with the leadership team to develop the internal values aligned to the brand along with an engagement and operational plan to embed them in every aspect of the organisation’s people practice.
- Challenge the Board where appropriate and suggest alternative paths, whilst championing improvement programmes.
- Leading the analysis of employee feedback and data, with the aim of creating a better working environment and engaged culture.
- Develop, implement and manage remuneration, benefits, pension and health and wellbeing policies, initiatives and plans to ensure amber is a leading employer.
- Ensure targets and deadlines are managed effectively to achieve progress, manage essential delays proactively and in a timely manner to minimise impact.
- Creating and managing the Employee Success department’s annual budget.
- Establish departmental accountabilities for the range of ES functions from talent acquisition to health and safety compliance.
- Give counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues such as grievance and disciplinary cases and manage difficult cases with professionalism.
- Develop and maintain strong and trusted partnerships with functional leaders and managers, provide constructive challenge and act as a sounding board, advisor and coach.
- Drive and support amber performance management including probationary reviews, annual performance reviews, annual salary reviews, performance improvement plans, disciplinary & grievance meetings, and terminations.
- Prepare, recommend and update employee guidelines and human resource policies for staff and management across all offices, ensuring they become embedded through awareness-raising and training.
Requirements
- An experienced leader of a people function, with strong generalist experience of all areas of people including employee experience, culture and engagement, employee relations, policy and documentation, onboarding, learning and development and talent attraction.
- An inspirational leader with the ability to instil a positive motivational mentality, even when it’s challenging.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder.
- Commercial acumen, with experience of taking commercial solutions or finding innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Proactive and progressive, with experience of introducing innovative people solutions to existing people challenges.
- Having a relevant qualification in the field of people management, human resources or organisational development.
- Extensive Employment Law or Employee Relations experience (Desirable).
- Experience of working in a fast-growth or fast changing environment and ensuring that you remain focused on key priorities (Desirable).
- Excellent understanding of technology, utilities or other complex sector (Desirable).
