About the role
- Provide leadership and direction to the hospice nursing and clinical teams.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
- Oversee clinical policies, procedures, and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff; provide ongoing education, training, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure timely reporting.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the growth and success of the hospice program.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Hospice DON Experience.
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid hospice regulations and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of EHR systems (Axxess a plus).
- Comprehensive knowledge of QA and billing process.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with the ability to support patients, families, and staff.
