About the role

  • Oversee the laboratory’s operations
  • Organize, plan and supervise analytical activities to ensure customer deadlines are met
  • Implement, adapt and validate methods and laboratory organization to meet market needs
  • Ensure fair distribution of workloads and optimize resources
  • Ensure business continuity and manage operational priorities
  • Monitor performance indicators (turnaround times, quality, productivity)
  • Lead and motivate the team
  • Manage, support and develop the laboratory team’s skills
  • Organize onboarding, training and performance evaluations for staff
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, safety instructions and internal regulations
  • Promote a positive work environment and effective team communication
  • Ensure quality and regulatory compliance
  • Be responsible for applying the quality management system according to accreditation requirements
  • Oversee the drafting, updating and implementation of procedures, work instructions and SOPs
  • Actively participate in internal and external audits and follow up on action plans
  • Manage non-conformities, deviations, corrective and preventive actions
  • Supervise microbiological analyses
  • Ensure proper execution of analyses
  • Provide technical support to teams
  • Manage equipment, consumables and infrastructure
  • Ensure proper functioning, maintenance and longevity of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Oversee inventory of consumables, culture media and reagents
  • Define investment needs and participate in their implementation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Bac+3 to Bac+5) in microbiology, biology, quality or a related field
  • Proven experience in an accredited testing laboratory
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Proficiency in microbiological analytical techniques
  • Good knowledge of quality standards and accreditation requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, decision-making ability and capacity to manage priorities
  • Proficiency with computer tools and laboratory software
