About the role
- Provide legal advice and guidance on U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), state privacy laws (e.g., Colorado, Virginia), and applicable federal laws (e.g., TCPA, FTC Act).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including product, engineering, security, and compliance - to identify and mitigate privacy risks in products and services.
- Assist the Commercial Legal Team with review and negotiation of data protection terms in contracts with customers, vendors, and partners.
- Support the development and implementation of internal privacy policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Advise on incident response, including data breach investigation, notification, and remediation.
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and industry best practices related to U.S. privacy and data protection.
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations.
- Help shape Aledade's privacy strategy and ensure alignment with business goals and legal requirements.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in privacy and/or data security, preferably in an in-house legal role or within a law firm's privacy practice.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with HIPAA, HITECH, and relevant state privacy laws.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal regulations into clear, actionable advice for technical and business teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- (Preferred) Knowledge of emerging U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) regulations and guidance.
- (Preferred) Experience working with fast-growing healthcare technology companies.
- (Preferred) Professional certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), or Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).
