About the role
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax forms and schedules for US business entities.
- Apply GAAP and IRC to analyze financial information and ensure compliance.
- Conduct R&D credit studies, respond to IRS and state audits, and handle tax notices.
- Prepare and review state income tax nexus studies.
- Prepare state and local tax filings, including franchise and business tax returns.
- Support state and city registrations and ad hoc tax projects.
- Propose and implement tax strategies while managing multiple client engagements.
- Coordinate with clients and external parties to deliver timely, accurate tax returns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA or EA required.
- 5+ years of U.S. business tax experience; public accounting and startup client experience preferred.
- Proficient with CCH Axcess and research tools; broad tax experience (C Corps, S Corps, partnerships, international tax compliance, multistate tax).
- Comfortable working in a fully-distributed startup environment and working at least 4 hours of overlap with 9-5 EST.
- Strong project management, attention to detail, and client relationship skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage a distributed team.
