Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Relevance and Personalization

Full-stack Engineer

• Design, build, and operate the systems that serve ML models within the messaging stack, with a focus on latency, reliability, and scalability
• Write and review technical designs that solve large, open-ended problems at the intersection of ML and product engineering without clearly-known solutions
• Partner with ML, data science, and product teams to identify high-value opportunities, establish evaluation criteria, and close the gap between offline model performance and production impact
• Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners across Messaging, Trust & Safety, Localization, and Platform organizations to align on long-term technical solutions
• Mentor, guide, advocate, and support the career growth of individual contributors
• Establish engineering standards for ML integration across the messaging surface, including feature flagging, A/B testing, observability, and graceful degradation

Staff Software Engineer, Communication Products

• Work closely with cost and performance cross-functional partners and engineers across all teams at Airbnb to optimize the performance and the operating cost of our infrastructure.
• Work with our largest services to optimize their performance through profiling, analysis and tuning.
• Build distributed performance tooling to constantly collect performance data and develop automation to surface performance bottlenecks.
• Lead continuous load testing in production to determine performance bottlenecks and vulnerabilities of airbnb.com.
• Work on production performance issues to minimize latency for our customers.
• Work to modernize Airbnb’s software stack touching every layer.

• Work with large scale structured and unstructured data, build and continuously improve cutting edge Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business and operational use cases.

• As a Senior Staff Engineer in Operations, you will lead and mentor a high-performing team to scale our AI-enabled operations model and deliver AIOps solutions that streamline operational workstreams and help BizTech teams focus on their core work with confidence.
• You will own the AIOps vision, strategy, and roadmap, partnering with the in-house Observability platform owner to leverage infrastructure and data for accurate, correlated insights that streamline Operations.

Security Engineer

• Own and evolve the security compliance engineering roadmap, aligning security controls with business priorities and risk appetite.
• Serve as a technical authority on security compliance domains (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR/Privacy adjacent controls, internal security standards).
• Define control objectives, success metrics, and maturity models; drive improvements through measurable outcomes.

• Building and maintaining a long-term technology stack with well defined APIs that is service-oriented, modular, granular, observable, and efficient.
