About the role
- Leading negotiations of complex commercial agreements with third parties, including NSPs, government bodies, OEMs and BOP providers.
- Developing and delivering investment business cases aligned to AGL’s strategy, including managing key inputs to the financial model , obtaining and disseminating market insights and stakeholder mapping.
- Preparing high quality CIRC/Board papers, bid submissions and contributing to grant applications, representing the Commercial team as required .
- Evaluating and preparing commercial instructions for the AGL legal team.
- Coordinating interfaces between the Commercial team and the Construction, Operations and Development teams to ensure alignment on key contracting requirements.
- Defining and communicating each project’s commercial strategy and contract structure, managing this through to NTP.
- Conducting market analysis to identify trends, opportunities and validate project site characteristics.
- Supporting AGL’s market advocacy by contributing to industry forums and regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Strong negotiation capability with experience managing high value procurement and complex commercial contracts.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and comfort working with complex financial models.
- A solid understanding of energy markets and the value drivers behind large scale generation projects, particularly renewables and storage.
- Experience in the commercial and/or legal structuring of large scale renewable generation projects such as wind, solar or storage (highly desirable).
- Experience in the power industry or related development roles.
- Knowledge of corporate project approval processes through to FID and NTP.
- Exposure to the full project development lifecycle from concept through to investment commitment.
