About the role

  • Leading negotiations of complex commercial agreements with third parties, including NSPs, government bodies, OEMs and BOP providers.
  • Developing and delivering investment business cases aligned to AGL’s strategy, including managing key inputs to the financial model , obtaining and disseminating market insights and stakeholder mapping.
  • Preparing high quality CIRC/Board papers, bid submissions and contributing to grant applications, representing the Commercial team as required .
  • Evaluating and preparing commercial instructions for the AGL legal team.
  • Coordinating interfaces between the Commercial team and the Construction, Operations and Development teams to ensure alignment on key contracting requirements.
  • Defining and communicating each project’s commercial strategy and contract structure, managing this through to NTP.
  • Conducting market analysis to identify trends, opportunities and validate project site characteristics.
  • Supporting AGL’s market advocacy by contributing to industry forums and regulatory submissions.

Requirements

  • Strong negotiation capability with experience managing high value procurement and complex commercial contracts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and comfort working with complex financial models.
  • A solid understanding of energy markets and the value drivers behind large scale generation projects, particularly renewables and storage.
  • Experience in the commercial and/or legal structuring of large scale renewable generation projects such as wind, solar or storage (highly desirable).
  • Experience in the power industry or related development roles.
  • Knowledge of corporate project approval processes through to FID and NTP.
  • Exposure to the full project development lifecycle from concept through to investment commitment.
