About the role
- Lead and oversee all pattern engineering aspects for your business unit
- Execute strategies leveraging industry-leading and efficient pattern development processes on a global scale
- Align with the overall objectives and vision of the organization and your business unit
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams, divisions, and external partners
- Proactively monitor development calendars, ensuring achievement of deadlines
- Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with teams to implement corrective actions
- Foster strong partnerships for seamless collaboration and effective pattern development
- Communicate to internal and external teams seasonal product initiatives, process changes and long-term category vision
- Drive and execute key initiatives and provide input to short, mid and long term planning
- Build the appropriate structure to manage the organization effectively
- Ensure appropriate leadership skills at every level in a motivational work environment
Requirements
- Technical college/fashion school/university degree in pattern making/grading, “Meisterbrief” or equivalent education
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in apparel pattern engineering in multiple business units
- First experience in managing a team is an advantage
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to deliver effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to diverse audiences
- Advanced understanding in both 3D and 2D creation, with knowledge of current industry trends
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate and define problems, synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions
- Ability to think end-to-end with a global mindset
- Ability to manage through change, make decisions and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty
- Ability to provide a clear framework for performance to direct reports
- Ability to coach, guide, manage and develop a team
- Excellent software knowledge/skills (CAD software, virtual reality, graphic software)
- Knowledge in apparel product creation tools and processes
- Good understanding of sourcing allocation impact on product from a quality and cost perspective
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Travel, domestic and international as required by business needs
- Advanced IT skills in MS Office, Adobe applications and ability to work with Product Data Management Systems
