About the role Work alongside the Speech, Privacy and Technology Project team and assist in all aspects of litigation Conduct legal research and analysis to support new and active litigation projects Aid in drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, affidavits, motions, and briefs Draft and edit public education and non-litigation advocacy materials Provide support and assistance to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys Full-time summer commitment: 35 hour/week for 10 consecutive weeks starting May 26 or June 8 Requirements Must currently be matriculated legal students Must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship Completed 1L year by Summer 2026 or enrolled in an LLM program Excellent research skills, including conducting internet and legal database research Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing Attention to detail; excellent organizing and time-management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Initiative to see projects through to completion Demonstrated commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, and racial justice Demonstrated ability to conduct complex legal analysis and fact finding Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and respect differences Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts Demonstrated interest in free speech, privacy, and technology preferred Lawfully authorized to work to receive stipend Stipend of $24/hour (stipends are taxed) Remote or hybrid internship positions available Full-time (35 hour/week) summer internship (10 weeks) Accessibility: reasonable accommodation for applicants with disabilities (assistance applying and interview accommodations) Copy Applicant Tracking System Keywords Tip: use these terms in your resume and cover letter to boost ATS matches.
