• Conducting legal research and analysis

Legal Intern, Reproductive Freedom Project

• Conduct legal research and legal writing (memos and portions of court submissions)

Legal Intern, Disability Rights

• Work primarily on DRP’s veterans’ docket, focusing on disability rights, civil liberties, and veterans’ rights
• Assist with litigation and advocacy related to servicemembers and veterans
• Conduct legal research and draft legal writing such as memos and portions of court submissions
• Perform factual investigation to support cases
• Support preparation for and participation in court-related activities (depositions, oral argument, hearings, trial)

Legal Intern – Disability Rights, Veterans' Advocacy

• Conduct research and writing projects relating to litigation in state supreme courts.
• Draft memoranda, motions, and portions of briefs.
• Conduct legal and factual research concerning issues and cases in multiple state supreme courts.
• Track cases and issues of interest to the State Supreme Court Initiative (SSCI).
• Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work and program development.
• Collaborate with ACLU affiliates and national office attorneys and fellows to identify cases and file briefs.

Legal Intern

• Work alongside the Speech, Privacy and Technology Project team and assist in all aspects of litigation
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support new and active litigation projects
• Aid in drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, affidavits, motions, and briefs
• Draft and edit public education and non-litigation advocacy materials
• Provide support and assistance to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
• Full-time summer commitment: 35 hour/week for 10 consecutive weeks starting May 26 or June 8

Legal Intern, Speech, Privacy and Technology

• Support all facets of the ACLU’s work across at the Supreme Court, including legal research, argument development, and brief drafting
• Case load will likely span a range of issue areas, including voting rights, LGBTQ rights, immigration, presidential power, and free speech
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support new and active litigation projects
• Aid in drafting of legal memoranda, motions, and briefs
• Provide support and assistance to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
• Assist with long-term planning and strategy projects and gain exposure to the ACLU’s advocacy strategy development and coalition management efforts
• Report to the staff attorney who works across the ACLU’s Supreme Court docket

Legal Intern, Litigation

• Conduct human rights and legal research and work on domestic and international advocacy HRP is working on
• Conduct legal and policy research
• Draft memoranda, affidavits and briefs
• Research prospects for new litigation, including both factual and legal claims
• Research and draft materials for public education and human rights documentation

• Work under the direct supervision of the Program’s Director and interact with other Program staff

Legal Intern, Human Rights

• Conduct legal and policy research for the Capital Punishment Project
• Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs
• Research prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims
• Research and draft materials for public education
• Support public advocacy and strategic litigation, including amicus briefs and direct representation work

• Support defensive and affirmative advocacy related to the criminalization of abortion care.
• Conduct legal research and writing including drafting memoranda, portions of briefs, motions, and training resources.
• Track cases and issues of interest to the ACDI.
• Assist with performing intakes for those who contact the ACDI in need of criminal defense representation.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and attend reproductive-rights specific orientation sessions.
• Engage with coalition partner organizations on litigation and policy advocacy related to the criminalization of abortion.

Legal Intern, Women's Rights

Director

• The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Deputy Director of National Organizing in the Organizing Division of the National Political Advocacy Department of the ACLU’s National office
• This is a hybrid role with in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight days per month
• The National Political Advocacy Department builds power to achieve an accountable, representative democracy
• Our department conducts analysis, develops policy, crafts world class campaigns and situates the ACLU to have impact across legislative, administrative, and electoral levers
• You’ll plan and execute organizing-based actions for nationwide campaigns, manage staff and consultants, and collaborate across ACLU’s national departments and state affiliates
