About the role
- Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of key Marketplace initiatives.
- Ensure projects are well-defined, properly resourced, and delivered on time with high quality, impacting 4+ million users in 170 countries worldwide.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural input to your team, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and align with the overall platform architecture.
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to define requirements, refine specifications, and translate product roadmaps into clear technical plans.
- Actively participate in cross-functional planning sessions to align on priorities and dependencies.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive team culture.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and support career development plans for your team members.
- Champion and implement Engineering best practices, standards, and guidelines for coding, testing, and infrastructure across your team.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, enabling rapid and reliable deployment of new features.
- Continuously learn and stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and Engineering management practices to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the team and foster an environment of innovation.
Requirements
- Prior hands-on experience with e-commerce platforms and domains (checkout, payments, catalog, pricing, promotions, order management).
- Prior experience in a people leader capacity where you successfully have mentored software engineers and have fostered a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within a team.
- Strong systems thinking with an understanding of designing for high traffic, high availability, and peak events (e.g., sales, promotions, holidays).
- Proven extensive experience (8-10+ years) in a SaaS environment, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software solutions by effectively planning, tracking, and managing multiple projects and initiatives. Ideally with prior experience as a Senior or Staff Engineer, and hands-on programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar modern language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and project updates to various stakeholders.
- A collaborative and influential approach to stakeholder management and cross-functional partnerships.
- Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native environments (GCP, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Proficiency with modern software development practices, including continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).
