About the role

  • Helping the team to build an extensible integrations framework so that we can interoperate with dozens of existing healthcare systems, in a scalable and repeatable fashion.
  • Working with a highly skilled team and flexible team structure, working with consultants and specialists in integrations.
  • Balancing an evolving roadmap as we engage with new healthcare organisations with bespoke requirements, with building a best in class product.
  • Managing the process and the mechanisms used by the team to deliver on their commitments.
  • Leading in ensuring goals are achievable, with appropriate assessment and decomposition of work, sequencing, and capacity planning (in collaboration with the expertise in your team).
  • Ensuring the team manages the health of their systems confidently and responsibly.
  • Guiding technical direction: Work with the engineers on your team to make appropriate architectural and system design decisions within your team’s product area. Champion best practices around code quality, monitoring, alerting, and service health.
  • Leading and growing your team: Manage and mentor your engineers, supporting recruitment, development, performance reviews, promotions, and conflict resolution. Build a culture that is collaborative, high-performing, and focused on delivering impact.
  • Collaborating with other engineering managers, product managers, and stakeholders to unblock dependencies and ensure alignment across the business.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with experience in C# or Java, or a similar role within the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience in user-centric, multidisciplinary teams, working closely with product, UX, and commercial functions.
  • A strong business mindset to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Delivery-focused with experience in agile teams, able to create clear delivery plans that ensure visibility on results and impact.
  • An understanding of best practices around monitoring, alerting, and maintaining service health.
  • The ability to contribute to technical decisions and participate in discussions on system and service design.
  • Strong management experience overseeing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, conflict resolution, performance management, and promotions.
